Just two days after meeting with the urologist Judd was able to get in to have the orchiectomy surgery to remove the tumor. (After surgery doctors then look at the tissue to confirm it is cancer and determine what type of cancer it is.)
Judd was understandably nervous about surgery, but we were happy he was able to get into surgery so quickly and start getting better.
After what seemed like forever in the waiting room the surgeon came and told me that the surgery went very well. The tumor was contained in just the one testicle, a chest x-ray Judd had done came back clear (meaning there were no obvious spots on his lungs) AND two of the three blood tests he had done came back completely normal -- the third was only slightly elevated. The set of blood test they do are called 'tumor markers' and they use those as indicators of cancer growth. I was so relieved and could hardly wait to see Judd and get some funny footage of him coming out of anesthesia.
The nurse taking me to see Judd said Judd was so sweet and had all of the nurses crying. She said as they were wheeling him to recovery from surgery he was teary eyed telling all of them how excited he was to have a baby with his best friend. Judd was earning major brownie points without even knowing it. Then I walk up to him and loudly he says, "there's my angel!" (chalk up a few more brownie points haha).
Here is one of the videos we have of Judd coming out of anesthesia. Watch for a good laugh!
Our good friends and neighbors had their baby boy 4 weeks early without any complications. We all think he came early to cheer Judd on and help him smile during recovery.
Leading up to and after surgery we had lots of awesome family taking good care of us. My sister would come hang out with us during the day. We probably made it through a couple seasons of the Office and I love this picture of us three hanging out.
A picture my sister snapped of us when we had fallen asleep.
Too cute! What a guy you have there. He's so sweet, and you two are so cute together! I am praying for the best.
